JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Police say they have identified the person who blew himself up inside an Indonesian church and are awaiting confirmation from DNA tests.
The bomber blew himself up after the Sunday service ended and wounded 30 people. The attack in the Central Java town of Solo comes amid concerns about escalating religious intolerance in the world's most populous Muslim nation.
Maj. Gen. Anton Bahrul Alam would not discuss the bomber's identity Monday but said DNA results were expected Tuesday.
Local media reported the man was wanted for plotting the suicide attack in April at a mosque packed with police. Authorities would not comment on those reports.
Hard-liners have been blamed for rising attacks on churches, minority Islamic sects and Indonesian security forces.
