After growing "bored" with 27-year-old Michelina Lewandowska, prosecutors claim Marcin Kasprzak, 25, zapped his girlfriend with a stun gun, tied her up and buried her in a cardboard box, according to the BBC.
"In a nutshell, this case is about a young man who got bored with his partner, the mother of his child, and he decided to get rid of her," said prosecutor Jonathan Sharp.
The vicious assault occurred in Huddersfield in May, when Kasprzak and an accomplice, 18-year-old Patryk Borys, allegedly attacked her in her home as she got ready for what she believed was going to be a shopping trip.
After shocking Lewandowska with a 300,000-volt Taser, the duo are accused of binding her with tape, placing her in a cardboard box with two air holes and driving her to a rural area.
"They carried Michelina, sealed in the box, up the hill, placed her in the hole, and then piled earth both around and on top of the box. They found a large branch, weighing some 40kg (88lb) and placed it across the box," said Sharp, according to the BBC.
But Lewandowska managed to escape.
"It was not easy as I was tied up," she said during the trial, according to The Daily Mail. "The only thing I could move was my head, which was also tied up with the tape."
After digging herself out of the grave, Lewandowska sought help from passing motorists.
Kasprzak and Borys stand accused of attempted murder.
