A Belgian cyclist was knocked out of the Tour of Beijing after wind from a low-flying helicopter blew over a billboard lining the race route and knocked into him. Yannick Eijssen was forced to leave the race after the incident, which took place near Beijing.
In the clip below, you can see the billboard fly forward into Eijssen, who had already ridden past the section of wall.
The 22-year-old suffered a broken nose. Watching that replay, you can't help but think that he should feel fortunate. That could have been much, much worse.
Organizers called it a "freak accident" but refused to confirm the television helicopter's role in the incident. We're sure the forthcoming Chinese media will shed light on the topic in the very near future.
Just because you get your nose broke in a fight means you gotta forfeit? Come on...I know you just experienced something a little traumatic but...if I walked away with just a broken nose, i'd definately keep truckin.
